Common Questions About Our Surgery Center

Who performs the anaesthesia?

You will be taken care of by an anaesthesiologist who is certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and is an expert in his/her field. Prior to your surgery, you will have the opportunity to meet with your anaesthesiologist to discuss any concerns and address any questions you may have.

What kind of anaesthesia will be used?

Each surgical procedure carries a different level of discomfort and requires a different level of anaesthesia. Minor surgeries may be performed under local anaesthetic while more invasive procedures typically require general anaesthesia. Dr. Lennox and your anaesthesiologist will discuss the types of anaesthesia with you at the time of your consultation.

Will I need to stay overnight?

Most cosmetic surgical procedures are done on an outpatient basis. In some cases, such as when the surgery is quite extensive, an overnight stay may be required.

Will I need someone to take care of me after surgery?

Following surgery, in most cases, you will require a responsible adult to escort you from the surgical facility and to remain with you for the first several hours.

Who will be on-call following my surgery?

Post-surgery, you will be provided with Dr. Lennox’s cell phone number. Should you require assistance, he will usually be available to you. If for some reason you are not able to contact him, you will also be provided with contact information for one of his colleagues within the University of British Columbia plastic surgery group.
